As part of the Edinburgh International Children’s Festival on tour programme, the World Premiere of children’s show Baba Yaga comes to Perth Theatre on Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 May before opening at the festival at the end of May.
This uproarious new show for children and families was created and is performed by a team of unique and celebrated artists from opposite ends of the globe –Scotland’s Shona Reppe (The Curious Scrapbook of Josephine Bean), and Australia’s Christine Johnston (Fluff) and Rosemary Myers (Girl Asleep).

Baba Yaga is a deliciously engaging show for children aged 7 to 12 years and families. A hilarious, musical retelling of an old Russian folktale, it tells the story of Vaselina – a young woman living the quiet life, safely tucked away on the third floor of a very tall apartment block who is forced to confront the terrifying Baba Yaga who plays her music far too loudly and eats jellybeans with her mouth open.

“The combination of Shona Reppe, Christine Johnston and Rosemary Myers is thrilling. These are some of the best female artists creating work for young people today and Baba Yaga is a wonderful new collaboration full of humour and intrigue, guaranteed to inspire and entertain young minds,” said Festival Director, Noel Jordan.

A brand new show for young people, Baba Yaga was commissioned by Imaginate (Scotland) and Windmill Theatre Co (Australia) and is supported by the Scottish Government’s Edinburgh Festivals Expo Fund.
