Don't Put Your Daughter on the Stage is an affectionate and nostalgic journey through the life of Lesley Mackie in the theatre. It started when Lesley played Little Red Riding Hood at the age of 6 at the old Nicholl St Theatre in Dundee; from then on she never wanted to do anything else. Acting has always been a precarious and unpredictable choice of career and for all those who remember Lesley, or are just interested in the ups and downs of a life in the entertainment business, she will tell it like it was, what has changed, and how she see it now. She'll share memories of some of the shows she has been in and actors she has worked with, all illustrated with photos from many productions both in Perth and elsewhere. Lesley will also be happy to answer any questions. Lesley first appeared at Perth Theatre in the summer season of 1974 in Bachelors are Bold and Not Now Darling (No' the Noo Hen). It was early in her career, and many regular theatregoers back then were witness to her development over the following years, which culminated in parts such as Edith Piaf (1984/91), Judy Garland (1991), and Shirley Valentine (1993). Lesley had something of a love affair with Perth, as not only did she meet her future husband, Terry Wale, in that wonderful, memorable production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 1974, but they often returned, eventually deciding to move up here with their two young children back in 1993, and here they stayed. Lesley still gets pleasure when people in Perth stop her to reminisce and say how much they enjoyed particular productions many moons ago. £17.50 (inc £2.50 booking fee per ticket) Ticket includes refreshments on the day Part of Perth Theatre and Concert Hall’s 125 celebrations
